Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) more popularly known as her professional surname Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer born in Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be contracted to J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. She dropped her debut EP with the label on October 21st of 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she began gaining recognition. The album that she released as her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her first tracks online in 2012. She dropped five singles in 2013 and Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. She continued to upload her music via the internet including her independently released single Bound. In 2015, she appeared on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, performing the track Sweat It Out on the 21st of July. J. Cole asked her to be a part of his collaboration on Rihanna's reference. Later in the season, the music was circulating throughout Dreamville. Her contract was signed officially to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was a track she recorded alongside Cozz on The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. In the month of October she dropped her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act in support of J. Cole on his song Change in the year 2017 and appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She was also featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus together with Bas and her labelmates. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream off her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on the 5th of September. The second single she released was Grampa on the 9th November. Then on November 13 two singles that were titled One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole in The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on the 16th of November, and dropped the song on her own single to accompany the album she released her debut. The track was accompanied by an accompanying music video that debuted on February 20 2019 and was viewed by 3 million people on YouTube within one week. In December 2018, she performed as part of The From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
